Tracemac is a command-line C++ application that will trace a MAC address through the bridging tables of Cisco switches. It uses SNMP, unlike other programs which telnet to the switches. No network structure needs to be configured, and no switch passwords need to be divulged, just give it a switch's IP, community string, and the MAC address you're looking for. Cisco switches are a requirement, as Cisco's CDP MIB is used, as well as some Cisco-specific implementation details in other MIBs.
