| Notes | This is a Cumberland County OEP site located in the Michaux State Forest between Pine Grove Furnace and Mount Holly Springs. It is accessible by taking Ridge Road to a gated road and by walking the gated road eastward. The road is covered with fill just east of the tower site, making approach by vehicle from the east impossible. Met Ed power lines reach the site underground from the east. In addition to county services, the tower is also used by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for their linked microwave network. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania site name is CUMB02. The directional microwave antennae on the tower, as well as the smaller equipment building, are controlled by the Commonwealth. The tower is also used by the South Mountain Repeater Association (N3TWT) for their 145.43- repeater. They have photos from the installation of the repeater on their online photo album. According to FCC registry data for call sign WPQR283, which is active at this site, the address is "911 Ridge Road." Neat, huh? Another curiousity of the site is the concrete block wall on the southern edge of the site. I don't know why that is there. |
